Brent came to Boise this weekend. Since he had to leave for home around 11am on Sunday we knew we wouldn't be able to have Easter dinner together so I proposed we have our Easter meal on Saturday at my house and invite his mom, step-dad, and brother Mark over.
His mom and I struggled to decide who would cook what Friday night, that fact that it was late and we were tired didn't help so we didn't have a great plan together. Saturday Brent came over and told me that I was making the ham, something I had originally planned on but was afraid I would make Peggy sad about if I took it away from her, plus I had never cooked a ham so I didn't have the slightest idea how. Her morning was full so it worked out best if I made it. So I realized I needed to quickly get things cooking so after a desperate call to my sister-in-law Marlo for instructions I realized I didn't have everything, so while I started I asked Brent to run to Paul's for me. He left with his cell phone so I could call him if I realized other needed items. He came back with needed item and Easter Lillies, what a sweetie!
Well after I got the ham on the way I turned to making rolls. I chose a recipe that I hadn't tried before. I searched for each ingredient realizing I was one short so again Brent was off to Paul's. He again asked if I needed anything else. I assured him I had everything for the last item I needed to prepare. He came back with this new request, informing me he made sure to go to a different check out so it wouldn't be obvious he was back at the store. I got my rolls going and as I put my new ingredient away I realized I had what I needed all along and had over looked it. I still haven't told Brent I sent him to the store for nothing, sorry Brent - I love you.
On to the last item, the one I had made a grocery list for and gone shopping for. I just couldn't help smiling as I realized I had forgotten to pick up an item for that one as well. So after 3 trips to the grocery store and checking out in 3 different lines I finally got an Easter dinner together. Everyone showed up, food was good, company was great. It all turned out pretty well and I feel as lucky as ever to get Brent. What a great guy just to laugh at me and not to get mad. I can tell you from experience, that type of man doesn't come around everyday. Thanks Brent!
