seat covers

Here is another chair cover, this one I think is just a slip cover that does the back- not the seat for dress up folding chairs. Still, even if I could sew there is no way I could enough to do all the chairs by myself.

Reception decorations

I found this picture when I was looking for ideas on how to decorate the cultural hall for the reception. I think it looks great and I love it. The problem is that other than the ceiling I have no idea how to achieve it within my budget and still buy all the other stuff needed for the wedding. So any ideas on how to do it? Anyone know of someone that has already created the chair covers?

Time for a post

I realize that nothing substantial has been on here for a while but to be honest I haven't had anything to really say and even though we know people look at this site there is the fact that we can't see who is visiting and except for John, Shandy, Stephanie and us no one really comments. This leaves me with the difficulty of figuring out topics without any feedback. So this is what I have come up with. I am contemplating walking you through my side of us getting together. If that is of interest let me know.

GO STEELERS!!!!!

Brent and I have been huge Steelers Fans as far back as we can remember. I became a fan in 78 when I was four and finally old enough to really understand what football was.
Now our beloved Steelers are headed to Tampa for Super Bowl XLIII. I will be hosting a sweet Super Bowl soiree and definately think Brent should get monday off so he can attend.
I don't know if Karla and Brent have had the flag discussion yet but your home will just not be a home if Brent can't fly the Broncos flag on Saturdays and the Steelers flag on Sundays.

We have a WINNER

Getting a little crazy

This was the runner up wedding dress. It might look a little crazy to you because I am actually wearing two dressing. The dress that is on my body is the top one from the group I last posted. The dress you see from the front is a dress that was way too small for me so it is pinned to the front of the other one with a sash added and pinned to the dress again. It was fun to see that craziness that goes into trying to pick a dress. By the time I left that shop last night I was full of so much static that my friend Meredith was able to shock me every time she touched me.

Wedding Dress Shopping

Four shops, 5 hours and these are all the dresses that won't be chosen and more shops and dresses to go. FYI - these are about half of what I have tried on. BOY AM I TIRED!

The Reception

I think the Reception should be held at the Stueckle Sky Club, overlooking the Blue. Could you ask for a better location?

Nothing good is every easy...is it

Everyone keeps asking if we have set a date. I hate that I have to say no but nothing worth doing ever comes easy does it? Before we can set a date I need to get my temple sealing canceled. Despite my Bishop's assurance that it won't take long it is definitely not sounded that fast to me. I picked up the paperwork from him last week and while I have filled it out and written my letter I still need a letter from my ex-husband or a paper trail that shows the Bishop has tried to get one from him, a letter from Brent's bishop detailing his temple worthiness and finally a letter from my bishop giving his approval for this action and detailing any problems that might occur. HOW FRUSTRATING!

Of course my bishop keeps assuring me that once we get all this paperwork together that it can be submitted to the first presidency who will respond quickly. He expects to have an answer by the end of March. Right now that sounds like forever away as people keep asking me for details about a wedding that I don't feel I can start to plan without knowing what date we can get married and exactly where that wedding can take place.

On the upside though many, many people have offered to help me plan the reception and that has greatly decreased my anxiety. I just don't seem to poses the girlie gene that likes to plan weddings. Anyway, everyone please keep us in your prayers that it will not only go quickly but that the first presidency will approve my request.

SUPER STAR

The day after Brent asked me to marry him many of his family members came to town. Hal's family came barring a ice cream cake that said "Super Star" to celebrate the fact that Brent finally found a women that he wanted to ask to marry him - I guess they felt that made me a miracle worker. While I wish that thoughts of greatness came to mind with this title every time I hear the term "super star" I think of the SNL movie Superstar and the infamous Mary Catherine Gallagher as she stretches her hands to the sky and says "super star". Since I am doomed to always pull a move that will prove I am a total dork I figure the Mary Catherine move fits me. I couldn't find the pose that came to mind so I got ones that were close so from now on Brent can be the Cheetah and I will be the "SUPERSTAR"!

ENGAGED

Brent surprised me last night after we finished lighting off fireworks for New Years by asking me to marry him. As you can see he did get down on one knee with a ring and asked me to marry him.

Yes I am holding a wooden spoon in one hand and a pot in the other hand. Eventually someone commented on this error in judgment and Brent removed them from my hands so i could hug him.

I was most surprised when we were on our way back into the house and he told me that the reason he came home for Christmas was to ask me to marry him and that he had been planning to propose New Years Eve the whole time.

I felt bad when I realized how much I screwed up his plans by getting too involved. I really do need to learn how to be more patient and keep my mouth shut. I love the ring though:)

Picking up the slack

I keep telling Brent he needs to post our latest happenings but if you can't tell by the lack of posts... he has ignored me. So here I am again to give you the dirt. But first, seriously, comment, make me feel loved by replying to my diatribes.

As you know, Brent came and surprised me for Christmas which was great. Over the weekend my dad and Joyce had their farewell for their mission down in Utah. The weather wasn't great on Friday so I am very thankful that Brent was here and willing to drive us to and from Utah for this trip. While we were there Brent got to meet all of my family. Since there are a total of 20 members to my family this was easily accomplished. Everyone seemed to like him and from what I can tell he liked them as well. Before we left on Sunday he and my father disappeared for a few minutes where it is my understanding Brent approached the subject of marrying me with my dad. I know this meant a lot to my dad since he declared afterward that I was getting a good man with Brent. Part of me wonders if Brent now ranks a little higher on the scales with my dad than I do... just kidding:)

The biggest news of the week can be titled "HE WENT TO JARED'S", anyone that lives within range of a Jared's Jewelery store will understand that one. I picked out some rings that I liked on Monday and yesterday Brent went and looked at them. As much as I wanted some sort of surprises with this I did end up in the jewelery store with him yesterday solidifying which ring will turn into my wedding ring. As best I can tell Brent even ordered the ring and bought it. It needed to be sized and the center stone needed to be placed so we left the store without any rings in hand.

So now permission has been given on each side from parents for this union (I figured I should ask Peggy since Brent asked my dad - Vince), rings have been purchased (I put money down on a ring for Brent... even though he can't make up his mind what he wants). Katie is on board for it - amazing, and now Brent just needs to actually ask me if I will marry him.

On one hand I really wanted to be surprised when he decided to ask me but now that I know he has gotten the ring I REALLY WANT IT! :)

The Best Christmas Gift

As I pulled up to my house tonight and opened the garage I not only found a car already in my garage but Brent as well. This time around his work decided to give everyone Friday off and let them off early today so he won't even get in trouble. He went to work for about an hour this morning and spent the rest of the day driving to Boise to surprise me! It was great. His brother Kevin knew he was coming but no one else in the family knew so it was a surprise for them as well when I finally let him leave and he went home to Peggy and the gang.

Happy Birthday to Brent

So I am a few days behind with this post but Brent turned 36 on Wednesday. While he was up here this past weekend we celebrated his birthday with his family. As I was on my way over to his mom's for a birthday dinner, present in hand (a bluetooth) he called excited to let me know that his new car had hands-free capabilities. So when I showed up I didn't know what to do for him for his birthday. When I told him what I had bought him his sister responded that she had bought him the same thing for his Christmas present - great minds think a like! In the end she and I traded bluetooths and she is now using the one I bought for Brent and I am using the one she bought for him.

The following day he and I stopped at Circuit City and I simply told him to pick out that gift he kept telling me he would like and I would pay for it, lame I know but I don't think I would have ever gotten it right. Well since I felt so lame and I hated the fact that he would be by himself for his birthday after he left I baked a few goodies and made him a card. I didn't get them in the mail until Tuesday though and he doesn't pick up his mail every day so he only got that surprise today. He seemed to like the surprise though, which I am glad for and I told him that from now on he would just have to be with me to celebrate his birthday.
